And is it absolutely necessary to have the same values as a couple to be happy? You&#8217;ll find plenty of easy-to-implement tips for your everyday life.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-4ba2a7ab elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"4ba2a7ab\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">What are values?<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-b39f44d elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"b39f44d\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">What does it mean?<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-483b6aa5 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"483b6aa5\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>According to the Larousse dictionary, a value is &#8221; <i>what is considered true, beautiful, good, from a personal point of view or according to the criteria of a society, and which is given as an ideal to attain, as something to defend<\/i> &#8220;.<\/p>\n\n<p>To put it simply, <strong>values are the filter through which we conduct our lives<\/strong>: they&#8217;re the basis on which we judge what&#8217;s right or wrong, what we feel like doing, how comfortable or uncomfortable we feel in a situation&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>These are our fundamental principles, our deepest beliefs&#8230;<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-d7e94be elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"d7e94be\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Where do they come from?\n<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-2f63e1a elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"2f63e1a\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>There are two types of values: <strong>inherited values<\/strong> and <strong>chosen values<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<ul>\n \t<li><p><strong>Inherited values<\/strong> are those that come from our environment: family values, of course, but more broadly from the society in which we grow up.<\/p>\n<span style=\"color: #ec6664; font-weight: 600;\">For example:<\/span> in terms of family heritage, someone who grew up in a family where academic success was very important will probably inherit the value of hard work and effort&#8230;\nOn a societal scale, a person born in 1960 in the USSR and a person born the same year in the USA will not have received the same message, and this will be reflected in their values.<\/p>\n\n<p>In Unio session 1, &#8221; <i>Building on our stories<\/i> &#8220;, we invite you to take stock of this heritage: which of your inherited values would you like to put aside? But which ones do you want to keep and bring into your relationship?<\/p><\/li>\n \t<li><p><strong>Chosen values<\/strong>, on the other hand, are those we consciously choose, sometimes in opposition to those we have received. Go back to your individual values defined in the previous step, and see which ones you have in common, and which ones are distinct.<\/p>\n\n<p>Chances are, many of them are common: we tend to go for people who share our values.\nOn the other hand, it is possible to have different, even contradictory, values.
